Bionic reading
Stumbled upon an interesting post relating to speed reading today thanks to Googler and Data Scientist Aishwarya Srinivasan. Basically the idea is simply to highlight the initial syllable of each word in a text and let the brain auto-complete the rest of the word. Essentially what speed readers do all the time.
I’m taking my speed reading cues from “guru-in-pretty-much-everything” Henrik Fexeus where the idea is even more straightforward – just have a few marks in a textblock and let the brain fill out the rest. So perhaps this part-word-highlighting is actually overkill.
Nonetheless, there seems to be an API for the whole gig (and as pointed out in the comments, basically a oneliner can do the trick mapping input words to a styled output text). Might be worth looking into.
This post is authored on my phone (in vim of course) and will most likely benefit from a face-lift.
